In 1999 I competed in my first Ironman race in Penticton, B.C. to see if I could do it. Well I did and inspired myself to continue on and compete in 9 more Ironman races and qualify for the Ironman World Championships in 2006. I have continued to challenge myself racing 50km, 50 mile and 100km runs. I have been coaching multisport athletes from first timers doing their first super sprint triathlon to Elite athletes training to qualify for the Ironman World Championships for the past 10 years with great success and enjoyment. In 2013 I decided to head back to school to pursue my Master’s of Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. During this time I also volunteered as a Mental Performance Consultant intern at Douglas College under the supervision of Dr. Farres. This opportunity allowed me to work with collegiate teams and individuals evaluating and developing their mental skills from the beginning of the season, into their playoffs. Focusing on the mental side of sport and life has become my new passion. I am excited about completing my Master’s in May 2018, and then starting my new career. I continue to organize community fundraising events, provide community talks about mental health and well-being, consult athletes, and am the current Whistler Triathlon Club President.
My new moto; Reach – Stretch – Grow
I am passionate about fitness and physical and mental health, the sport of triathlon, and inspiring others to set goals and challenge themselves. I believe that we don’t know our true abilities until we challenge ourselves to push past our own percieved limits.
