In 1999 I competed in my first Ironman race in Penticton, B.C. to see if I could do it. Well I did and inspired myself to continue on and compete in 9 more Ironman races and qualify for the Ironman World Championships in 2006. I have continued to challenge myself racing 50km, 50 mile and 100km runs. I have been coaching multisport athletes for the past 12 years with great success and enjoyment, from first timers doing their first super sprint triathlon to Elite athletes training to qualify for the Ironman World Championships. In 2013 I decided to head back to school to pursue my Master’s of Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. During this time I also volunteered as a Mental Performance Consultant intern at Douglas College under the supervision of Dr. Farres. This opportunity allowed me to work with collegiate teams and individuals evaluating and developing their mental skills from the beginning of the season, into their playoffs. Focusing on the mental side of sport and life has become my new passion. I am excited to add this new knowledge and skill set to my coaching and counselling business. I continue to organize community fundraising events, provide community talks about mental health and well-being, and consult athletes.
My new moto; Reach – Stretch – Grow
I am passionate about fitness and physical and mental health, the sport of triathlon, and inspiring others to set goals and challenge themselves. I believe that we don’t know our true abilities until we challenge ourselves to push past our own percieved limits. My new moto resonates many things that I am passionate about. Reaching beyond our perceived limits, stretching our bodies and minds to be more flexible to the ebb and flow of life, and growing throughout the process.
