I am not sure if I missed the revised memo regarding Ironman being draft legal so it perplexes me to see so many triathletes out training, drafting behind their buddies and in Aero! Have these people not heard that you need to train how you are going to race? I am just wondering.
Ok that was my rant for today, I feel a little like Rick Mercer.
Last long training ride happened this past weekend. They were calling for 60% chance of showers on Sat. but that was the day I had planned to ride and I thought if it rains on race day than I will be mentally prepared. Well we did not have any rain thankfully, but we had hot sun and an unforgiving head wind climbing back into Whistler. I was out training this weekend with one of my athletes Nancy. We were riding out the Meadows, not together as Nancy is much faster, but I stopped her to ask for something and we both had to chuckle. As we were riding going a little slower than our average pace out the Meadows we both thought there must be a headwind. But when we stopped not a leaf was moving on the trees.
UG, we really were going that slow and have no excuse! Reality bites sometimes!
In the end it all worked out. We both had some challenges out there and overcame them just like what we may have to do come race day and finished off back at rainbow park with a smile on our faces and gave each other a pat on the back.
